Often, the painting job of the home leaves the other areas of the house stained. The paints and the stains on the plumbing pipes become too stiff to be removed. The cleansing action of the water fails to clear the stains from the plumbing pipes. As a result, the home spaces look unorganized and messy. There are a number of methods that one may employ to get rid of such stains.
Make sure that the procedure that you have employed to remove the stains is safe and reliable. Some of these methods may hurt the structures of the affiliated setups. Hence, avoid using such methods and make way for the safer alternatives.
Starting with the complex methods, the use of a blowtorch can serve the required purpose for you. It works well for both PVC and the copper pipes. However, one has to be extra cautious while handling the application of a blowtorch. The messy operation of a blow torch forms the basis for the avoidance of its application. Moreover, the resulting fumes are considered unsafe and dangerous for the affiliated plumbing setup.
Besides the blowtorch, sanding is another method that can perform the required job. However, it takes a lot of time to clear up all the stains and paint from the plumbing pipes. Its application becomes very frustrating when you have to wait a lot to see the outcome.
The above mentioned methods are not often employed by the households to remove stains from their plumbing pipes. A safer alternative for them could be the use of a scrubber (or brush) and a paint thinner. The application of paint thinner doesn’t damage the affiliated plumbing setup.
Before the application of the thinner, place a large piece of cloth under the affected length of the plumbing pipe. Take another piece of cloth and pour few drops of paint thinner on the rag. Allow the rag to absorb the thinner drops completely. Now, rub the affected surface of the plumbing pipe gently with the rag.
Complement the rubbing operation largely by the scrubbing of the brush. While the paint thinner loosens the hold of the stains on the pipe, the brush removes it with a forceful action.
Once all the paint spots look disappeared, wash the entire length of pipe with water and detergent. Render a clean look to the affected length of the pipe by wiping off water with a dry piece of cloth.
